Happy 'Golden" Birthday Ean!!

Ean turned 29 on the 29th this weekend!
Saturday night was his 10 year reunion as well. We had a very busy and fun weekend.
EV class of 2000

Friday night Joellyn took Chasen home with her so Ean and I could clean up for the party on Sunday.
That included chopping up and hauling away an entire cedar tree, weed whacking, and cake baking!
My biceps still hurt from the hauling and whacking and pool vacuuming.

we woke up sat. morning to continue the yard work
got to north English for the reunion around 4 and since Ean sprained his ankle earlier in the week and I had never golfed we just rode golf carts!
Had dinner around 6, watched some funny videos of Ean in Jr High and hung out with all our friends because that was pretty much the majority of the people there lol.
I was expecting to get to meet some new people. Oh well!

We of course ended the night at the local bar... the duster
where the bathroom had this sign its a classy place ;)

Everyone had a good time, maybe to much of a good time!
We didn't get to bed till about 3am

Then Ean woke up around 9am on his golden birthday to go home and get ready for the party!
No napping for any of us...except chasen of course.
The party was supposed to start at 1pm but I think everyone was hurtin' a little form the night before except for our friends Mel and Matt from college they came on time ;) Me and Melissa with our babies! and to think we used to celebrate birthdays in a much more crazy fashion :)
everyone else hobbled in around 2-2:30
we swam

there were lots of kids running around too! I guess thats what happens when your 29! 3 babies and 3 toddlers!

played some volleyball
then just sat in the shade and played with the kids.
It was a pretty low key party, but I told Ean that's what happens when you get old ;)

of course we had to get out a couple baby goats

Jesse (right) and Ean and a couple of their other friends had a goat farm out at ean's sisters house when they were in Jr. High! Weirdos!

and of course there are these two yahoos!! They had a ton of fun together that weekend at aunt trista's house!

here is Ean on his glorious day spending it just the way he wanted it, relaxing outside with friends goats and beer!! lol

Our Trip to Grandma and Grandpa Swedburgs

.... all in words because on the way home I was messing around with the camera and reformatted the hard drive on the disk and erased all the pictures.

I'm super pissed and I don't want to talk about it.

We left Friday around 4 got to my dad's around 9:30 mom came and picked up Kevin and we all went to bed!
The next morning Papa made an amazing breakfast and we started to get ready to leave for the Swedburg farm when Ara got out her hula-hoop and I just had to try it and when I went to swing the hula-hoop I smacked Chasen in the nose and gave him his first ever bloody nose.
it was awful.
about 15min later we left.

we got to the farm around high noon and Uncle Scott, great aunt monte, and grandma and grandpa were outside smoking ribs in the smoker.
We ate roast beef sandwiches for lunch
and burnt sugar cake...which was amazing.
Grandma surprised Ean (and I) with tickets to the first Husker game for his birthday!

after lunch we put on our play clothes and went outside in the blazing heat to run through the sprinkler, ride several rides on the gator and chase frogs.
Chasen really enjoyed riding on the gator and asked several times to go on rides!
of course his auntie Lissy took him as many times as he wanted because he has her wrapped around his finger. its sickening ;)

Dada helped Chasen catch a frog and he did really good with it and didn't squish it.
I had the cutest video of him and the weird noise he made at it when trying to catch it and the way he squirmed when he held it, but didn't really want to hold it, but wanted to hold it really bad. It was super cute. But of course I can't show you it.

We also went and saw the horses and fed them an ear of corn we picked out of the field.

I forget how in Nebraska we have to irrigate our corn and have those large sprinklers in the fields. In Iowa we get so much rain I don't think people irrigate as much if at all.
I of course took some cute photos of chasen in the corn with his husker romper on.

Then we all went inside to get a break from the heat and
bet on some horse racing.
the caskeys didn't win :(

Chasen rode his first horse with mama.
It was the horse that I showed in 4-H about 10 years ago!
It goes without saying that Im super sad to have lost those photos :(

Dinner was ready we cooked hot dogs over the fire at ribs, potato salad and beans all out side with ice cold Coors light! mmmmmm mmmmmm :)

Then we has smores!
Great aunt monte makes the perfect marshmallow.
of course I had a picture of their perfect brownness.

The night ended with wine on the porch in what turned out to be the most perect night it was so cool and relaxing. Unlike the heat earlier that day.

In the morning we were treated to banana blueberry bread and breakfast casserole!
Then we headed to my moms house for more fire and food!

Learning to Get Dressed

its a tough thing to learn...
getting dressed.
He can't put on a shirt, but will stand on one leg for me to put his pants on and he can pull up his pants.

Summer Days

This is my all time favorite picture of chasen!

hanging out last Sunday at The Schaffner house with papa in the kiddie pool

they were having fun going down the slide but it wasn't fast enough so....

they went naked!

this past week and last weekend chasen and i got some sort of virus, they said chasen had hand foot and mouth and I had the flu.
i thought it was crazy that I could have the flu in the summer but then they said something about it on the news on Friday that Iowa had an outbreak of the flu. crazy!
I even missed a couple days of work.
We are hoping this means we wont get sick for actual flu season, which is right around the corner along with FOOTBALL SEASON!!!!
we just have 3 more weekends!
this sat we are going to the Iowa state fair
then the next weekend we are taking our annual trip out west to grandma and grandpas house
then the 28th is Ean's 10 year reunion followed by his 29th birthday on the 29th
and then its opening weekend!!!
we will be in NE for the first game....gotta start the season off right ;)

My First Parade

My morning started off with watching Daddy run a 5k in his home town, he got 3rd over all and first in his age group(i think) and I got to ware his medal around all day and screamed when anyone tried to take it off!
then we went to the parade where people threw stuff at us and I wasn't really sure what was goin on.
after some coaxing i put candy in the bucket

but most of the time I just looked like this...

in awe of all the trucks, tractors...things with wheels and motors!

my buddy Garin was there too!
and papa fed steak to Kevin under the tree.
Mama says that he spoils kevin too much. and that Kevin just might be the new favorite grandson ;)

Hard Hat Harry & The Desperado

I laughed so hard that afternoon at these two!
Chasen always has to put a hat on and asks to daaaancce
and he will go up to kevin and say "daaaaanncccce"
it is so cute and Kevin hates every bit of it!!!
I of course helped chasen out with getting the hat to stay on kevin:)

he is starting to know the words and actions to songs and will randomly bust out into a song at the dinner table.
like ashes ashes we all fall down.

he is becoming so much his own little person with so much personality, i just love it. Its like everyday is a new day with him!

Jumbo Lego's...

what do you use them for?
