Dashtyn Update

what can I say, he is so cute! 

he says lots of things now

most of it I dont understand which is weird considering how much time we spend together!!

But here is what I can make out:

man man = bat man or iron man or spider man

pookey = spooky

hap beee day = happy birthday

saysen = chasen

mouuuu = milk

pees = please

ank quuu = thank you

awkeye= hawkeye

tookie = cookie

ombine = combine

he says a few sentences and his first sentence was

i dady ome (is daddy home)

ear ace-en (here chasen)

air go = where go

do mommy.... and he grabs my hand and takes me to what he wants (go mommy)

he loves to count

un, two, ree, or,  (incoherent blabber) ine! 

he doesn't like ten for some reason

and will NOT sing the alphabet for nothing...so numbers it is!

he is terrified of bugs 

one was crawling across the floor and he ran from it so naturally I picked it up and put it on his foot and he screamed bloody murder and clung to my neck for 15min. 

then spent the rest of the night pointing at every little spec on the floor and tip-toeing around

he slept in his big bed once and only because he fell asleep in my arms on the couch 

i tried to put him in awake but he just picked the stickers off the wall

he still get up in the middle of the night to sleep with us

he feeds himself and makes quite a mess

and he destroys all things

this mirror has been sitting up aginst the wall for 7 years now in the same spot.

chasen never touched it.

well a few weeks ago i heard a crash and ran up stairs and dash was standing there

how glass didnt get in his eye I have no idea

so I put him in his room while I cleaned it up (which took forever!!!)

and Id open the door to check on him and he had tore all the clothes out of his drawers 

and pushed his bed to the middle of the room

exhausted doesn't even begin to explain how I felt that day

another day I was making lunch and came to get him out of the living-room to find this

he keeps us all on our toes thats for sure.

oh, I also had to call poison control for the first time ever!!!

I put a dawn dish washing tablet thingy on the counter and turned my back to load the dish washer and hear 

cough cough

he bit a hole in it!! 

all was fine just hurt his throat, he coughed a little. No blisters or anything,

poison control just said to give him water or milk to ease the burning sensation

and they called me back in 30min to check on us.

*disclaimer* I promise I watch my kids this stuff seriously takes seconds to a few minutes to happen :)

Time to Brag About Chasen

 Chasen is becoming quite the student

bringing home art work and stories from playing tag with friends!

below is a picture he drew of flowers with 2 suns, grass, and rain clouds it is to dad but he wrote ada instead! I think he gets in a hurry and or nervous at school because he spells dad all the time at home!

below is what he wrote in his dad's birthday card back in august.

I just gave him the card and told him to draw a pic and write his name

a few minutes passed and he came and asked me for his leapster.

I said why? 

he said because he needed to know how to write the letter "R" (such a problem solver--he knew his leapster had a game with all the letters of the alphabet) 

instead I said Id help him and I came in to see that he was trying to write. the word "Dear"

and I said 'awww like dear dad?!"

but then he told me nooooo like I shot a "DEER"   ha! 

I just can't believe at 4 he was sitting down sounding out a word and writing it!! 

the left half DEAE was me trying to have him spell it dear and the right half was what he did on his own DEREI.

and this one below is a bunch of stamps and on the right is a witch he told me "this is what she stands on (the stamp shoes/legs) this is her stomach (the brown spot) then her neck her head hair and hat!"

and the orange circle and stick is a campfire and marshmallow in a stick!

He finished up another soccer season

and has gotten more confident and fast!! 

Its kinda cool to hear people I don't know saying wow that kids fast! 

He scored 2 goals in one game 

and 1 goal at the last second in his last game

and he scored them all in the right goal :)

He is very sure on how to spell and write his name 

He still loves his brother 

and ever so often I do catch him saying awww he's just so cute

but mostly I catch him trying to make him do things like smile for pictures

He is 100% his own person.

It was homecoming week at school and he came home from school and told me that tomorrow was a dress up day and you could be a cowboy or fancy.

and I asked what he wanted to be and he said fancy

so we dressed fancy

and when I dropped him off not a single kid was dressed up as anything cowboy or fancy

I was so nervous all day that someone would hurt his feelings and make fun of him

but when I picked him up he said everyone loved his dress up and i saw 2 others as cowboys so he wasn't totally alone! I glad his is his own person and and naive and hopeful that he never get made fun of!

A couple weeks into school Chasen came home with a piece of paper I had yet to see and exclaimed to dashtyn "look dashy bubbah gets to go to cheer camp!!!"

I never laughed so hard in my life when I heard him say that 

so i looked at the sheet and it in fact was a sign up for cheer camp.

I asked him if he would want to go if it was all girls and he assured me that all his "buds" were going too.

so i let it go for a couple days and he never said anything so I didnt sign him up

well, cheer camp day came and he heard about it at school and came home and was mad at me said mom you forgot to sign me up

I told him I was sorry and asked him what he would have done if he showed up at the gym and it was all girls in cheerleading outfits....and he said I would have gotten outta there!

soooooo a few more weeks pass and we are sitting at home watching a husker football game and he sees the cheerleaders and says mom I want to learn the cheers.

and I said ok! and we did goooo biiiig reeeeed, go big red and husker power and I tried to teach him the fight song....

and I told him that this is what he would have been doing at cheer camp.

and he looked at me confused and I said well honey what did you think cheer camp was and he said 

"I thought we were going to go camping and says cheers!"

I guess next time I should FULLY explain to him what an event is and I should probably get him into boy-scouts so he can camp and chant around a fire! :)

Its moments like this that make parenting so amazing! I mean, you can't make this stuff up!!! 

meanwhile he is very excited to be turning 5 soon!

Haunted Train Ride

The following day (sat 12th) after watching Nebraska win!! We went down to Mt. Pleasant for a haunted train ride with Grammie, Trista, Chris and Garin 

 

 we did one ride at 6 when it was still light out and the kids were only a little scared!

then we rode bus driven by a scary masked man and he pumped the brakes and swerved until we reached the area with inflatable bounce houses (which the guy had to go in after dash)

 and a maze

 the maze was just for kids and they had to crawl through it, as you can see it was dusty!

and dashtyns first corn dog

we rode the train one last time before we left...in the dark

masked people jumped up at us in the windows!

chasen screamed and jumped out of his seat. Garin yelled back at them and although they didnt jump at dash he cried from all the screaming lol

 creepy

it was a great event!

kids were free and adults were $10 and that included the train, bouncy houses and carnival rides!! only thing extra was the food we bought.

Hay-rack Ride & Brewnost

On Thursday (the 10th of october)we went to Ryan's birthday party!

then on Friday we went to a pumpkin patch in north liberty!

We met Grammie there after work!

and had hot chocolate/cider and chex mix!

so grammie came back to our house to watch the boys so we could go

Our friends the Kukuzkes were there too

it was a fun event with lots of wine, beer and food to sample!

Just a Little Down Time

we did manage to have some down time the past month for a movie

on the dog bed

I seriously think we have had one weekend at home this month

and few sutliff sundays 

 it's ok though if we weren't on the go we'd be sitting here bored! ;)

they had a guy there making balloon animals for johnny appleseeds bday! 

Dash picked a motorcycle

there were plenty more aples then shown here as we picked dozens from our tree at home

I made 2 pies. a few batches of apple oatmeal

and apple sauce that the kids loved

 feeding maggie apples is a night time ritual

and throwing them of course
