Cranky

We are all a little cranky
Chasen is teething and not sleeping well, he is super cranky when he is awake and he has had a cough and clear runny nose for 2 weeks or more, I thought it was because he was teething (the clear runny nose) but now that the cough and wheezing are still there I'm thinking allergies... I don't think he is sick because he hasn't had a fever...who knows.
The other computer crashed, the nice one, with all the pics, so that makes me cranky and my left hip and knee are hurting again but i cant go back to the chiro because my insurance said they would cover my last 4 apts and then decided that they wouldn't ( i hate my ins.)
Ean lost his schedule on the nice computer and it has caused him quite the headache, we are taking it in tomorrow so hopefully they can recover everything.

Chasen is now constantly eating a bowl of cereal every night and actually eating it and wanting to eat it
he can roll is tongue and makes kissy noises all the time, he loves to hear himself yell and he is now sleeping on his side, i lay him down he squirms and cries a little till he is on his left side.
its kinda cute :)
So i ran for a week straight then didn't run for a whole week.
Im still doing the half marathon in June it just might hurt!

by the way where is spring?!??! winter is over staying its welcome and making me CRANKY!!!

Busy, Busy. Talkie, Talkie.

Chasne is a busy boy and he's not even mobile yet!
Yesterday he only took one one hour nap at daycare, they said they played with him hard, and they were exhausted but he wouldn't nap. He jumped in the jumper and they tickled him till they thought he couldn't laugh any more!
So when I put him in the car to go home I thought he would pass right out.... nope!
He talked to me the whole way home and then played in his jumper at home, played on the floor at a bowl of cereal (ate is a term we use loosely .. he doesn't eat much of it)played with daddy and didn't go to bed until 9:30pm!!
He slept trough the night though, I actually had to wake him up at 7:30.
then, he talked to me the whole way to daycare :)
At first he made coo and goo sounds now he does gee, ahhgee, iy, eee, aaa, baa and he purses his lips and blows bubbles.
He is also aware of what the bottle is, he immediately starts to whine cry when he sees it and opens his mouth as soon as its close to his face, he also knows what the spoon is for and opens his mouth for that even though we have only fed him cereal a hand full of times.
He is just growing so fast :/ its so much fun to watch him learn and grow but it makes me kinda sad too, my baby is growing up!

Chasen and I made Easter sugar cookies yesterday!

making cookies with him is messy and his not even big enough to help make the mess!
my kitchen is covered in flour, between holding him and tripping over Kevin i made quite the mess :) it was fun though!
Chasen almost rolled from his back to his tummy and he scooted 1/4th of a circle on his tummy!
Its 7am on a monday and im up posting...Chasen is up playing..mommy doesnt like to play so early.
still can't upload videos...maybe i saved them in a weird format..?

2 year anniversary of the barn fire

So I looked back at the pictures and articles and realized the barn frie was 2 years ago today....wow!
here is the story
around 3:30 that day I was sitting at the computer kevin kept barking (we had only had kevin for a week at this point and he barked all the time) then I heard what sounded like a flag flapping in the wind and I got up to look out (we don't have a flag) and I saw the barn on fire. I ran to the white fence because I was going to let the goats out, but once i got to the fence it was about 90-100 degrees and I knew I couldn't go over there. It was at least 80 on the porch by the house and the roaring sound of the fire is something i will never forget. ( I didnt notice at that point but there were people standing in my front lawn, i didnt notice them until later)
What I saw was flames on the roof of the barn and flames coming out of the windows where the goats were. I ran inside grabbed my phone and called 911, it was the first time I have ever called 911. I don't remember much of what I did after that but I called Ean then my mom, who said I was not making much sense when I called her. I was pretty much a mess bawling on the porch when one of my neighbors came up to me and hugged me, thats when I realized there were about 20 random people parked in the road by my house all standing in my front yard.
Ean was working in marion, where you could see the fire he followed the fire trucks all the way to our house going about 85mph...I dont even remember what I said to him on the phone but I must have sucked for him to drive home being able to see the fire from 30 miles away, knowing it must be pretty bad.
So me and the neighbor lady came to the house and we were going to try to move the 3 trucks that were by the barn but we saw the power line was down on one of them so we couldn't go out there. Then the truck (eans truck with the flames on it that he loved and had in high school.) started to smoke so she helped me get the dog and 2 cats out of the house. At this time the fire personal were not here yet and we were scared the trucks would blow up and set the house on fire.
By the time eand and the firemen got here all you could see was the frame of the barn. It took only 5-10min before the whole thing was gone. The volunteer firemen who got called in from all directions said they could see the smoke in Solon and Marion, which is about 30 miles away. They thought something blew up because of a mushroom cloud, but that was just when the roof caved in.
Not only did we loose a historic 150 year old barn but we lost 30 goats who to us were like dogs. we also lost about 600 bales of hay and 3 or 4 vehicles...i dont remember.
We still do not know what caused the fire and we were tied up in legal battles with our insurance company ( im not gonna go into it its a long story) for a little over a year. The rubble is still there because Its gonna cost quite a bit to clear it. Ean tried to clear it on his own but couldn't. And we keep finding other things to spend our money on!
So this post is in memory of Oreo and the rest of the goats we loved so much!

Random Signs of Spring

I noticed several random signs of spring yesterday as chasen and I were out and about:
squirls
all the parking lots of major stores are full of bags of mulch, fertilizer and they are putting up those big white tents....
and my least favorite sign of spring.
Smoke
from all the people burning ditches and fields, ever since the barn fire I get really nervous and anxious when I see all that smoke, the other night I swore it was coming from our house and convinced myself our house was on fire. It was NOT. We are approaching the 2year anniversary of that awful fire, i will post on it later this week.
Chasen and I had a very busy day yesterday
we met daddy for lunch at fireside grill in north liberty then i took chasen ALONE to the mall and as soon as i was half undressed trying on a baptism/easter outfit he starts crying....but I managed to get an outfit and go to another store for some shirts, I had to carry him and push the stroller the whole time, my left bicep is going to be buff!!
I also noticed something I never would have noticed had I not been a mom, non automatic doors SUCK!
After shopping we came home loaded up the jogger stroller (which was hard, I think the wheel comes off but i couldn't figure it out) and Kevin and went to Mt.Vernon and walked all around campus and that side of town, down to the house ean and I used to live in, I told Chasen all kids of stories about his mommy and daddy, that he probably didnt need to hear lol, just wanted him to know that his mama and dada were crazy cats back in the day;) mit was hard waling both of them, kevin kept wanting to chase squirls. Silly pup!
then we came home grilled with grammie and crashed!
I got absolutely nothing accomplished and it was GREAT!!! I guess Ill be busy this week.
Today we slept in and are about to head out to the grocery store for eggs so we can make bunny shaped sugar cookies!!
today will be a lazy day,
mama is sore from all the walking and carrying yesterday.

Happy Belated.....

St. Patty's Day and Birthday to Kevin! AND happy first day of spring!! Im so excited for spring and could jump right into summer :) Chasen is defiantly teething, he is drooling more...if that's possible, and his nose is constantly running and his cheeks are red...he also chews and chews. I wonder when he will actually get his first tooth!?! He has also been on a bad sleep schedule, not napping at daycare and getting up at 5am every morning and sometimes 1am and 5am.....never after 5am though, which sucks and makes me really tired which is why i dont post much...just to tired. I think he needs to nap more during the day (if that makes any sense) but today and yesterday he slept 2.5hrs at DC and took a 2hr nap at home and then last night he slept through the night till 6:30! He ate a bowl of rice cereal tonight and was actually interested in it and seems to be grasping the concept, we have tried it 3 times and was just kinda waiting till he was interested in the video that wont upload(grrrr) you can see chasen opening his mouth unlike last time where he just pushed it away. tomorrow i get my hair cut and im going shopping for a new outfit...maybe, im nervous to take chasen alone to the mall, i guess i shouldn't worry...all the other kids are screaming:)

Don't spill the beans

Did you ever play this game as a kid?
My sister and I played it all the time!
I have been trying really hard for about 2 weeks NOT to spill the beans about our best friends, Britton and Jordan....They are expecting their first BABY on their due date is none other then Chasen's birhtday Nov 4Th :)
We are so so so excited!!!
Britton was also the first person I told, after Ean of course, its kind of a funny story, I called her several times in a row because she wasnt answering and I thought maybe she was in the shower because it was kinda early, should have known she was in the library, any way I called her so many times in a row that her phone made a siren noise. she had it on silent at the library and everyone looked at her all mad....but once i told her she was super happy!

Ean and I are so excited, ( i think i mentioned that)and we are so happy to have close friends to share the expirence with!! they are only a year behind so I feel like we kinda get to do it together...all though it would have been sweet to be pregnant at the same time!...maybe next time!??
I also think its funny that we are all grown up and having kids, I mean look at how responsible we are... ;) atleast you can see a progression to responsibility!!

4 month Stats

We went to the Dr. on monday and confirmed that Chasen in huge and healthy!
Weight: 16lbs 13oz
Height: 2'2 or 26 inches...I think 2'2 sounds funny :)
He is definatly changing rapidly
He loves to stand in his saucer and johnny jumper, kicks at all times
He chews on EVERYTHING, drools allot
He is super observant....always watching and soaking it all in...i just love that, it makes me stop and soak it all in too!
He smiles alllll the time, and is mastering the cutest giggle ever, he has also found his high pitched scream Im sure that will be on video soon.
He loves his high chair, its a great "baby sitter" I can do dishes and other house chores and he just watches.
We did try cereal last night, more for fun than anything, they say to wait till 6mo but if your child has:
doubled birth weight(X)
holds head up well(X)
is interested in watching you eat(X)
then you can try it. It has to be really runny so it was had to make it stay on the spoon but hes not used to eating off a spoon and his tongue just pushes it out so we arent going to go crazy with it but maybe a few nights a week we will try it and see how things progress, at least he will be getting good practice and when he's ready we will know!
Im really excited because Im making his baby food and growing the veggies and he will be the perfect age by the time we harvest it all! And he will be the perfect age for the pool this summer, I already bought him swim trunks....orange (of course my fav. color) and brown.

So onto a little about Ean and I,
I have ran maybe a handful of times since I posted about running, its allot harder to find time then I thought and the weather isnt so great either, I do have the jogging stroller put together so we are ready for you sun...come on out so we can RUN!!
Im not sure how to run with a stroller and a dog...there is no way I could leave Kev at home, so the stroller may only get used for short runs.
Ean just bought a tractor to bail our hay and scoop the drive n the winter, he got tons (literally) of rock for the driveway. And we are in the process of boxing up all the papers from the business we dont need and moving the office out of the dinning room.....ohhhh I can NOT wait :)
So as usual life is busy, but good busy!

Spring a time for firsts

Chasen went outside for the first time ever today!
He touched a tree and he laughed and laughed at Kevin playing fetch.
When Kevin plays fetch he runs around and around and jumps on the picnic table which is where Chasen was sitting.

Chasen is feeling much better today....still pooping but its getting more formed.

I love spring time .... but it doesn't love me, I'm allergic to mold and my allergies and sinuses get all messed up this time of year as things are melting and wet, it happens in the fall too. Something to do with all that yucky mold.
But I have a lymph node right below me ear that is swollen and really driving me crazy, not to mention i can't breath out of my nose.
But I'm thankful for sunshine and sharing the sun set with my boys on the porch like I did tonight!
It was my first sunset with Chasen!
I'm so amazed at all the firsts Chasen will be experiencing,it just makes everything seem so new and exciting for me, I can't wait till hes old enough to talk to me and tell me what he is thinking of all these new things....Then I can experience the world through his eyes...like brand new, just like Spring!!!

I almost forgot....

Happy 4 month Birthday Chasen!!!!!

He likes to hold things tight when he is sick, this morning all he wanted was to be held and to hold my finger tight, i tried to remove my finger and he woke up and I got the saddest face ever....which kinda made me feel good and needed :)
pool little guy, Im not sure that things are getting better he just puked up everything he ate and is sleeping now, he hadn't thrown up alllll day, had 5 runny poo's and 4-7 clear wet diapers so the wet diapers is a good sign! And he cried tears, I dont want him to cry but tears = hydration!!

Now im feeling sick to my stomach, im not sure if its the copious amounts of coffee, or the fact that I give myself an ulcer every time he is sick, I just worry that Im gonna miss something and he's gonna get so sick he dies....Im not kidding .... its a legitimate fear of mine....irrational maybe, but Im telling myself its a normal feeling for new moms ;)
Denial works for me ;)

Down with the Sickness PART II

Well Ralphy has returned. If you remember when Chasen was about 4 weeks old he had acid reflux and puked all the time so I called him Ralphy.
Well Ralphy is back and he brought a friend.....Squirts McGee!
Yup, you guessed it Chasen has rotovirus.
I thought something was up on Sunday when he chugged an 8 ouncer and then puked it all up and then pooped, but the poop was formed and I had sat him up right away after he ate so I didn't think anything of it.
Monday he didn't puke much at daycare but he had an EXPLOSION at about 4pm and then had another one for us the next morning, and he normally doesnt poop but once every other day. But again they were formed so I just figured he was pooping more because I have stopped breastfeeding (which is going okay, I have a blocked duct and Im scared it will get infected...) anyway
so yesterday I get a call at work from daycare and they just so happened to call me when I was gone and im NEVER gone from work but I had to drive someone home and was gone for like 10min and that's when they call so i have a message on my desk that said daycare called and its not an emergency, but Im like it has to be something if they are calling me. So i call them back and Karen tells me that Chasen has thrown up allot and had two watery stools she also told me there was a 2 year old with the stomach virus and she was hospitalized for dehydration.
So i immediately called the Dr. to ask if he can have pedialite at his age and how much, of course they wanted to see him so I made an appointment and left work early.
Got to the Dr. office and Chasen pooped 2 times in their office with in 45min so I was able to show it to them, im sure they appreciated that :) And he leaked through immediately and got watery poo all over my pants, right in the crotch so i look like i had peed my pants, thanks buddy!
so there is nothing they can do for a virus but they told me the signs to watch for for dehydration, which is what im most concerned about, and they told me that he could have pedialite but that if he had an appetite to give him milk.
So we got home and i gave him milk which he threw up right away so i gave him pedialyte thinking that would maybe stay down and it did! So we did 4 oz pedialyte and 4oz milk, then he pooped again then he played and he is really happy! then at 9pm we had another 4 of pedialyte and 4 milk and he slept through the night so I was thinking I could go to work but he got up at 5:45 and pooped a ton!

* disclaimer* this is gross......

Ean was holding his legs up as I was wiping and the poo shot out and onto my shirt!!
SICK.
So anyway I'm home now till noon then Ean is coming home, we are really short staffed at work so I gotta go and Ean had to go this morning because of some crabby lady who needs her floor done and he rented a really expensive tool that if he doesnt use he will loose all that money.
I just pray the little dude stays hydrated and we dont have to admit him to the hosp.

The Laugh!!

So here it is the much awaited laugh! Chasen had just peed on the floor and Ean was fake yelling at him.... I think its funny that he laughs when he's in "trouble".... Im sure someday we wont think its so funny :)

I gave in an pumped fir day morning but I think Im gonna make it through the weekend and maybe it will be done then!
We had a busy but fun weekend, A ton of my friends were down for pledging so I took chasen all over to see everyone, we went to two basketball games and Cornell won the conference tournament for the first time ever, I took him to chameleons and to lip sync, Everyone loved him!
