My Little Scientist

I was cleaning out the pool filter today and chasen comes running up the the gate and asks me to save any beatles that were in there...... okay?? ewwww
i give him the basket, he digs 'em out and puts them in the compartment on the front of his car that he has full of dirt and was storing worms and ants in.
he drives the car over to the back yard and parks it then goes and gets the watering can and fills it with water
what are you doing?
Im doing an experiment...
oh?!
Im gonna put this water in the hole to make a pool for the bugs
he pours the water....
first i make mud
then it can hold the water and I have a pool!
all the june bugs are on the right side

they proceeded to build islands a bridge and added some leaves for "flotation"
I heard a lot of nooooo dash dont!
and nooooo that stick is too big!
then we took a Popsicle break and i got out an activity i had made this morning
I took balloons and filled them with a small toy and water
and left them in the freezer till late afternoon
which was nice because they weren't completely frozen and they could break them open easier.
tomorrow im gonna let chasen use a hammer and and a spoon or something to chisel them out!

Dashtyn 2 1/2 years!

I have been working on this update for months...just haven't found the time to finish and post it!
He is mostly poop trained and will pee outside, like stays dry when he can be outside and pull his pants down to pee, but not so much in the house.
He is starting to talk in almost full sentences like instead of saying "milk" he will say mommy I have a milk peees!" He does say please and thank you AND you're welcome, which is something I remember working on with Chasen at this time and he never said it!
if we ask Chasen a question, like do you want to ride in dads truck? Dash will go "me, me, meee, me
he never does what we ask and always says, no! and then walks away like hes the boss.
when hes in trouble and we say, Dashtyn if you do that again your going to time out. he throws his hands up and says "okay, okay ok ok" and stops what he's doing...then starts in again after we look away

at night when he crawls into our bed in the middle of the night he will get real close to your ear and says moooook. "dada moook" mook is milk
he will take toys from chasen and say haa ha. ha haa ha. which is quite funny cause he learned that from chasen
his mouth is always open, always! he has one volume! :)
other things he says
"mom where bad guy go?" referring to the waitress
"look bad guy" --any random person he sees that he doesn't know.
we did not teach him this...i think its from watching superhero shows!

"kitty cat, kitty cat" he says this in a sassy taunting tone and I have no idea why!!?!
he said Hi kitty cat to an older lady at the store today *sigh*
he is best as a passenger in the car because when he's in the driver seat he just hits the gas and sits back chillin, no steering just runs into stuff!
he can sing his ABC's and count to 12 then its teen teen after that
but mostly he is just adorable
he keeps us all on our toes 24/7!

Pre School Graduation

here he is on the first day of preschool
here are a few pictures of preschool...he started to get good at drawing animals and people with really big shoulders, which I thought were boobs to which he said nooooo why would I draw boobs, they are shoulders!
below is the castle which is the only thing he played with all year
and snack with friends
my favorite day where you could dress as a cow boy or "dress up" he chose to dress up
and this week they had a beach party
He had his graduation yesterday, and Grammie got to come up and take him out for ice cream!
we got there and he showed us around his room

 then they all sang songs

and received  their diplomas
his favorite color is black and blue
favorite food is corn
he said when he grows up he wants to be a scientist and when we ask what kind he said of bugs!
after that they had snack, which Dashtyn enjoyed!
Today was the last day of school -- he will have an all class picnic on tuesday next week
but we are excited for summer and Chasen's summer bucket list!

Appointment

well i had THE appointment yesterday and there are no answers. possibly a blood clot that grew and took over the vessels that supply nutrition to baby and the placenta. or a placental abruption. (where the placenta unattaches from the uterine wall) which they can't really diagnose or see on ultrasound until after 12 weeks and they put you on bed rest...but that might not even help. I was on light activity...I didnt sweep, mom, vacuum, run, walk, or lift anything. so there was nothing I or they could do. I wish there was something that we knew we could do different moving forward...possibly aspirin to prevent clots?? or just straight up bed rest???
i dont know, and im kind of done thinking about it for a while.
Im going to enjoy the summer and then gear up for all the stuff i posted about earlier today...(i actually wrote most of that last week) infertility treatments and trying again sometime in the fall. I have some reading to do on pregnancy after loss, some sun to soak up, some margaritas to drink, some water balloons to throw at the boys :) and possibly a half marathon to run!

the Dr said as soon as i get a period im free to get pregnant (if i want) now she knows i dont get periods on my own...(sometimes i do) but said it would be good to take provera if I dont get one on my own soon.
I will also be setting up a consultation with the University hospital (where we do the fertility stuff) just to talk about what happened and have them review all the ultrasounds, pathology report and post D&C report, just to see if they recommend anything different.
so thats that.

yesterday we finally planted the tree we bought in memory of baby (which they did not know what it was, i thought maybe the pathology report would tell us the gender)

here are the boys working hard!

and this is what its supposed to look like! since we think baby was a girl I went with a big pink tree!

I was finally able to run today and it was so great.....did a 5k in 32min while pushing dash which i thought was pretty decant since i haven't done a thing since march!

Day Dreaming .....

Day Dreaming about everything on the other side of my life.

I know everything will be ok,
work out in the end.
Ill look back on this and see how strong Iam
how far I've come
how close Ean and I have become
how amazing my kids are
how awesome my friends are

I don't want to wish the boy's any older then they are right now, but I can't wait for this all to pass.

not every day is sad anymore, I actually had several really good days in a row and then a day where I was just sad for no reason...well there's a reason....but i wasn't even consciously thinking about it.

my 4 week check up is on Tuesday and I think that has me anxious.
I'm hoping for answers, but  realistically aware that I wont get any.

I think I'm done mourning the loss of the actual  baby. but now am mourning the loss of all the hopes and dreams I had. and wondering...
why me?
This was supposed to be our "easy baby" we found the method that works to conceive and it worked on the first try...not a year of hell like when we tried and got Dashtyn.

why does making and having children have to be so hard for us? why is it surrounded by heart ache, anxiety and depression?

I just want a family..the family we have dreamed of.

I have like 100 pregnant friends!! (seriously...) HI!! I LOVE YOU ALL, I really do. but why is it so easy for them. Im not mad at them and its not even hard (like i thought it would be) to be around them, It's totally ok because thank God i have had 2 kids and can relate to them and their pregnancy. I dont even care about people complaining!! Next time im pregnant (god willing) Ill complain!!
I just find myself longing for and wondering what it would be like to have a happy normal pregnancy and road to conception.

I feel like I got a glimmer of that "normalcy" when we conceived on the first try...and then it was ripped away from us...why??

I also am very aware that I have 2 healthy kids and you may wonder why isn't that enough.
I have never had anyone say this to me, i feel like people think it, I think it sometimes.
but to that question, Id like to ask you which one of your children would you choose to live with out?
I wanted that baby as much as I did the 2 boys I have now. so NO my 2 healthy kids aren't enough. My 2 healthy kids have NOTHING to do with my (our) want for a 3rd child and the love, hope and dreams we had for that baby.  Each one of my children are their own entity that I love and wanted as much as the other.

most people wake up one day have a discussion with their spouse...should we try for #4!?! (or whatever the # may be) and you excitedly say yes!! maybe you have some reservations. but yes you're ready to try. Hell maybe you didnt even plan it and opps here's #4. (I would give anything to have that happen!!)

we don't get to do that when I ask Ean do you want to try again and he doesn't want to give me his true answer (yes!!!!! :) x's 1,000) instead he says of course I want more children but you are the one who has to put you body through all this*. you decide, its your body -- which is really kind of him but not the happy conversation one would want to have. not the excitement most people get, for us the excitement isn't until we get a positive test, and now, now that we've had a loss, I dont think my excitement will  come until Im holding a baby in my arms!
*All this being: infertility treatment which makes me super anxious and hormonal  and now the looming possibility of another miscarriage and surgery.
we almost didnt try for #3 because it's awful!!!! I honestly think the year trying to conceive Dash was worse then the miscarriage. the miscarriage was awful and sitll is but it was just one really bad let down and now we get to look up and get better. the infertility is a horrible emotional roller coaster of really high hopes and crashes and only have a few days to pick yourself up and try and hope again before it all crashes again and again and again x 12 months of that, 372 days to be exact with dashtyn...was he worth it HELL YES.
do I want to do it again. NEVER! but my only other choice (ive posted about choices before) is to accept the fact that my family is complete.....and I...we, just aren't there yet. accepting that is harder then accepting the fact that we have to start over. return to zero -- which is a new movie that is on my DVR and i can't wait to have a evening to myself to watch it! its about still birth. and then they get pregnant again. and it talks about marriage and grieving and...ill need a box of tissue.

i feel like this picture most of the time....a little brown and dead inside...but, BUT I have good days and good feelings and HOPE for a better day tomorrow and a better moment after a bad one. I have had so many days where i didnt want to get out of bed, but I did! and the old me...the one that didn't have kids, never would have gotten out of bed. some of that I have to give them credit for but some it I get credit for too :)
I find my conversations with people look like this plant too, a little bit about my sadness, the baby, and a little bit about normal happy life things...because my life is a mix of happy and sad. today i actually feel a little more green then this picture :)

I day dream about reading this post years maybe months from now and laughing at how angry I am and wishing I could give that old me a big hug and tell her everything will work out!

and for anyone reading this who has experienced loss...i found this blog post amazing! --  It is okay to be selfish.  The world may not understand your grief.  It will make people uncomfortable to see the gaping hole in your heart, but that doesn't mean you should cover up or ignore the wound.

I feel like Im yelling in parts of this post....thats not my intention...please do not take anything I write in here personal or directed at you. these are just my feelings.

Everyone has delt with me great! I couldn't ask for better friends and family!

Spring Soccer

We just finished up another soccer season.
Chasen is really starting to understand the game and not just caring about kicking the ball.
He really likes to score goals and is really good at sprinting down the field and blocking the ball, it was cool to see that because last year he didn't really care about that as much as he did scoring himself,
AND he also had to goal assists, which is a big deal because he doesn't really like to share the ball, but i had a couple conversations with him about sharing and kicking it ahead to someone else and he did it!
here is a video of him making a goal, he is in the yellow shorts and light blue shirt
the last game of the season he got to play his best friend!
they only tackled each other a couple time ;)
in his "ready" stance...he really does take it seriously!
sprinting up the field!

Goal!
Next up T-ball!
no swimming lessons this summer as he has to be 6 years old to do level 6.
so after T-ball it will just be hanging at home with mommy
before he's gone all day everyday at kindergarten :(

Mothers Day

I slept in a little!
Ean woke me up with coffee, lilac's and the computer in bed...he had emailed me my mothers day itinerary!!
He knows I love a plan!: )
we went to church and Dash was awful!!
then we planned to go to Granite City brunch but it was an hour and half wait so we went to Vitos for lunch at 10:30 :)
they gave the boys markers to draw with and chasen marked on his face and Ean said "oh it must not work it didnt mark on you" so he just kept trying ! hehehe we are evil!
and dash of course colored all over his arms
after lunch we went to lowes and got the umbrella for our deck, hardware for the hammocks, and a pink weeping cherry tree to plant in memory of Baby. and Chasen wanted  a pear tree...so I guess pears are in our future!
we got home and it was storming so we all took a nap!
then had breakfast for supper and the rain stopped so we went out to vacuum the pool and put the table and chairs together. dashtyn always has a life vest on if he is on the deck with the pool, Chasen can swim so he's good.
I was vacuuming and Ean was putting the table together...the boys were playing around, Dash kept throwing stuff in the pool, and kept being put in time out for it. He threw his shoes, the nets and a cat!
after the cat we put him outside the deck but he was messing with stuff out there so we brought him back in, chasen was walking around the edge of the pool and says to Dash, dont push me!
I heard Chasen say that, then heard a huge splash and look up to see chasen climbing out of the pool in utter shock! ean and I died laughing and then I told ean to go get the stroller and we put dash in it with the breaks on and a dog leash wrapped through the tire spokes and hooked to the deck rail, in case Chasen thought it would be funny to push him in.
NOTHING surprises me any more! :)
Chasen went to change his clothes and when he came back he said "this is a story Im gonna tell when Im 30!" he just couldn't believe it.
in case you were wondering the water was a cool 60 degrees!

Derby Day!

we ended up driving home saturday (the 3rd) morning so I could go to the race track with my family and bet on the Kentucky Derby (among other races!!)
we had lots of laughs, a few drinks and I lost all my money...all of it!!

(mindy, Alyssa, auntie Lisa, me, Mom & grandma Jan)

next year I say we go  to the Derby!!!
Ean took the boys mushroom hunting while I was at the track!
they got around 20 he said!
we stayed at my aunts house, and when i got back from the races, I had a massive migraine and had to lay down for a few min. then my mom and aunt and sister watched the boys while we went out for sushi!
Kevin was alone in the house for about 20 min and ripped up her couch cushion!! we came back with beer and $$ but she only took the beer. I still had a massive headache and went to bed, Dashtyn ripped her door stopper out of the wall and peed in her bed that night.
then next morning Ean drove over her large terracotta pot :(
we are not affectionately refereed to as the Ca-$keys (yes thats a negative before the dollar sign)!
on sunday Granny, Grandpa and Lily came up and we went to the foot bridge that crosses the river into iowa

and had a picnic snack before walking back
we also went and saw the trains that you see when crossing into Nebraska.
that is Chasen's "land mark" .....are we to the trains yet!?!!!

then we went out for lunch and headed back home.
we were almost to des moines when Ean text Lisa and said I have a proposition
"my shrooms in exchange for your (terracotta) pot" hahaha
he left all his mushrooms at her house.
