Family Birthday

this past weekend we had Chasen's family birthday party!

Nebraska had a by week so we just had hawkeye football to watch and it was a bad one :( 

Lily and Ara each adopted a kitten for the day and played with them in my bed!

alyssa set up a hair station in my bathroom earlier in the morning and fixed everyone's hair!!

my gandma's my mom and my aunt!

the kids also did their fair share of running around and wrestling and chasen tripped up the stairs and hit his shin and foot really hard!! had to take a break to ice it!

there was an afternoon dance party complete with flips

 

we paused the awful game and opened gifts!!

lots of legos, which was great because he only had one and really likes them and can follow the directions and put them together without help!

and he got lots of books annnd

HE CAN READ THEM!!

i haven't updated on the boys much lately but Chasen can read, he could sound out words before he went to kindergarten but now he can really make it all come together! It's still pretty slow going but he read an entire book at church on sunday!

look at that crew! We have an AWESOME family :)

and Im always so grateful to have them all here. all of chasen's grandparents, great grandparents, aunts, (the uncles couldn't come) great aunts and uncle, cousins and dog uncle, buster!

it's controlled chaos and we love it!

no crazy fancy cake this year..but they were chocolate filled cupcakes with gold frosting for the hawks! ... it didn't help :(

I had bought this for uncle jaxie to ware so the kids could play with him, but grandma took his place!

 such a cute bunch!

without them Ean and I would never go anywhere alone!

we ate supper and then people started to leave

my mom and dad and alyssa took the kids swimming at the hotel

the rest of us watched football

and kevin got cozy with uncle Dave!

there was also a good 30 minutes worth of dance off's 

chasen was being shy

 

but not dash, he had alllll the moves!

 

the next morning we ate lunch and hiked at palisades park before everyone headed home :(

I still can't believe my baby is 6!!

Chasens 6th Birthday

How does this keep happening!?!

Chasen had another birthday and turned 6!!!

We had a party at our house with his friends on Sunday. A halloween costume party!

they pretty much did this the entire time!

but did stop to play witch ring toss. and to feel all the monster and witch body parts

I told them that a witch and monster must have came to our house because the morning after halloween I found eye balls, brains, teeth and a tounge! in the driveway!

now Ill be the crazy mom :) 

Ean went and caught a goat to pet

and then I had them play soccer instead of tackle football!

I also had 2 princesses, Alana and Brityn playing with my kittens!

we had smores in place of a birthday cake, but they didnt sit down to eat them like i thought they would, they ate them in shifts!

they did come in after about and hour of playing for snacks and ttattoos

and then it was back outside. 

just before it was time for parents to pick them up I had them come inside and they watched Flintstones for maybe 5min before opening gifts!

afterwards we went to sutliff for supper with our friends!

Tuesday was his actual birthday ... here he is 

the 6 year old!

I made him cinnamon rolls in the shape of a 6

and he got to open his presents right away!

some ninja turtle stuff and a book on  CD, the boys listen to them at night (after dad reads to them)

Dashtyn and I went and ate lunch with him

then when dad got home we had birthday dinner of Chasen's choice

mac and cheese, green beans, banana yogurt, hot dogs and chocolate cake with chocolate frosting!

then we watched The Croods before my 6 year old went to bed :(

I still can't believe our baby is 6!!

Halloween Time

we started off halloween festivities with Trunk or Treat at church last Sunday 

Grama was here and handed out candy at the car! and won a cupcake at the cake walk but chasen ate it!

we played games in the basement of the church 

and had donuts

then on Wednesday Dashtyn and I had a Halloween party with the moms group. 

he is a tiny terror for sure!

we played lots of games

made cupcakes

and ate lunch with our friends

it was a big group of kids!!

there was also a local photographer there taking photos so Dash and I got some together!

The night before Halloween we made pumpkin rice krispie treats and pumpkin chocolate brownies. I was hoping that all the baking would mean we wouldn't have to carve pumpkins but Chasen really wanted to so we did!

Chasen was really into it though

I made the castle and ean and chasen made the bat

dashtyn painted his!

on Halloween we went to Chasen's school for the parade 

Dash had to take his hulk mask but would not ware it!

we stayed and listened to the book they read and Dash said he really wants to go to school!

and after school we painted Dashtyn's face, got dressed and headed to Lisbon for Halloween Town

dash was so excited running around singing his super hero song (dun nuuuh nuh nuh, dun nuh nuh) he does it all the time!

it was pretty cold out but their winter coats fit under their costumes!

Dash was upset that I didnt dress up. "momma you forgot your princess costume!!"

in lisbon they close down main street and decorate it and the businesses hand out candy and they have games. it was a lot quicker this way I think then walking around town!

they had a kissing booth with a guy in it talking to the kids then he sticks his tongue (hand) out and gives you a hershey kiss! 

Dash was totally freaked out by it!

they also had the car wash set up as a haunted house 

and had a bags game and a couple other games we played to

after that we headed to a couple of our friends houses in mt vernon and were treated with adult treats-- Jello shots!! 

and then we got to see baby Brecken. Dash loves "Brads" baby! lol

we were home and in bed by 8 and i fell asleep right away! 

while they watched some halloween kid show with dad!
