So sunday after thanksgiving and the cornhawksker game Dash came down sick.
My aunt left on saturday and the boys were fine that day. Dash had a little cough.
We went to bed like normal woke up and were half dressed for Church when Ean said .... dash feels warm, I felt him myself cause you know nurse moms know best and have magic ways of knowing when their child is sick;) HA!
Yup...sick
Took his temp and it was 100.1 and he was coughing.
We did take chasen to sunday school and decided to not go to urgent care cause i assumed it was virus we could do nothing about and it would be fine to wait until monday.
We spent all of sunday on the couch and chasen fed dash soup.

At one point I was snuggling dash and he lovingly looked up at me and sneezed directly into my face....MY EYES up my nose. i ran to the bathroom to disinfect my face!!!
Monday morning chasen was fever free and no cough so i sent him to school and made and appointment for dash.
He still had a fever through the night and I was alternating tylenol and advil every 3 hours.
The Dr said it was a little early to be seeing the flu but that they would do a nasal swab test just to be sure.
HE HATED THAT!
And it came back positive....first case at our MD office.
They should have given us a prize or a free visit!
So we all got tamiflu
And i called my aunt right away!!!!
She had been licked by them all weekend....literally held down and licked!
And i felt horrible for sending Chasen to school
When i picked him up he said his throat felt funny and his head was hot
Got home and his temp was 99.1
I called the school to let them know he had influenza and that they should disinfect his classroom
Yes. I am a freak!!
Dashtyn had a fever at and over 100 for 5 days straight. it would go down to 99 if i kept up with the alternating every 3hrs with advil and tylenol.
I had a sheet of paper with both their temps and what meds theyd had......it was like having a new born I was getting no sleep and couldn't remember when i had given who what!!
Chasen slept on an air mattress on our bedroom floor and dash in our bed and id set my alarm to check their temps and im glad i did because on the 4th night i woke up to check dashtyn and he was burning. his temp was 103.5 and it had only been 4.5hrs since his last dose. and everything Ive read and been told you should go to the ER if the temp is 104.
I woke him up and he started puking/dry heaving all over my PJ's and pillow.
I had ean go get cool wash clothes, took all his clothes off and held him until he could calm down to take the advil.
Their temp should go down one degree and hour after the advil and if it didnt we were going to th ER. but an hr later it was 102.6...still scary high so i stayed up another hour alternating wash cloths and watching friends! it was down to 101.3 so i set an alarm for one hour and went to sleep woke up and it was 100.5 and it had been 3 hrs so i gave him tylenol and finally went back to bed at 4am! long scary night!
But after that he started to get better and we got to the point where he only needed advil every 4 to 6 hours and eventually just every 12.
Chasen never got above 101 and could go longer stretches without medicine but he felt crappy and missed that whole week of school.
We did lots of quiet stuff at home that week.
Watched lots of christmas movies and Maleficent 3 times in 2 days!
Chasen did a 100 piece cat puzzle in just an hour or 2
Made a fort (So easy with bunk beds) to read stories by flash light
Snuggled, sneezed and snotted on nurse Kevin!
We Had our first baby goats that week
They had their sick couch
poor sick dashy :(
And chasen feeding dash his soup.
It was a long week And on thursday id lost my mind with boredom and made the boys an avalanche that had buried all their cars aNd they had to clean them and it eventually turned into a snowbAll fight That ended in a bath!
shaving cream and cornstartch makes a really cool consistency
friday night i started to feel crappy but didnt have a fever just a massive headache and sore throat and thats all i ever got, thanks to tamiflu!
Ean left sat morning to hunt with his family so it was just me and the boys and saturday night they hadnt had fevers for almost 24hrs so we went to the local asian restaurant for some egg drop soup and supper. mostly because i had no food left in the house and my throat hurt.
it was 100% empty so i dont think we infected anyone plus we werent coughing any more
see happy little boys finally!!!
it really sucked that we missed Garins bday party (but got to reschedule) and we missed my brother and sisters bday party and my brothers Christmas concert :(
but at least we wont miss Christmas!:)
