Family Sledding

last night Ean came home at 4 (he was working in lisbon!)

so we went to the sled hill in Mt. Vernon

I've lived here 10 years and have never went

I think we will be going more often now!

they close off the road in mt.vernon, right across from chasen's preschool, it's pretty long

dashtyn loved it, even though when dada pulled him he kicked snow up in his face...

chasen loved it to, he went pretty fast, it's just a long walk back up!

Forecast: Snow?

I hadn't really caught the weather in a day or so

and last I heard snow was for monday then moved to tuesday

well, its wednesday and it hasn't stopped snowing all day!

so we decided to venture out in it

Dash was pretty 'whatever' about it just stood there walked a little then cried 

and went in for a nap.

Chasen and I came back out and made a snowman!

I have probably made 3 snowman my whole life!!

the weather conditions and snow have to be perfect

I hate being cold and dry snow doesnt pack well.

today was 32 and heavy wet snow..... Perfect!

there were snow angles made and snow licking

and of course our snowman

then we headed to wolf pack park to slide the snow off our slide

and shoot snowball baskets

and swing

and of course eat more snow

I couldnt keep him off the ground he just kept eating it :)

it was a heavy, wet snow

and when dad got home we all went sledding........ more on that ...

Water Park Fun

This Saturday we went to dubuque with some friends. 4 couples, 7 kids under 4! we had 4 rooms and 2 of the rooms were adjoined so after swimming for a few hours in the afternoon we all ate pizza together, it was pure chaos, but was really a lot of fun!!

there were stairs but chasen climbed the ropes probably 15 times to go down the slides

Leigh and I went down the slides too, they were pretty fun

and all the mom's and dad's went down the indoor outdoor slide!! it was really fun!

that night all the mom's and dads got to hang out while the kiddos watched tv and eventually fell asleep!

the next morning we went out to breakfast and were going to swim again 

but we have been having a lot of issues with chasen and listening and eating. 

He was really bad that morning at the restaurant, pushing our buttons so we went home

a VERY hard lesson learned

But I can say that on monday when I had to take everyone to the dr he was good

and yes, we all have colds (except ean) Chasen annear infection and dash is getting 3 molars and the Dr said he has water in his right ear, which may turn into an infection.

To say Dashtyn in cranky would be the understatement of the year!!!!

Arena Ball

last saturday we took the boys to a cedar rapids titans arena football game

the kids did really good with the help of popcorn and a slushy and the Titans won!

arena ball is different then regular football, not sure if it is something I can get into. but it was fun. the field is only 50 yards so its a lot of short sprint
s. There is no out-of-bounds and when they tackle sometimes they tackle right into the crowd, glad we weren't sitting there with the kids!! Field goals are also a challenge because of the low(er) ceilings.

we have been going to a lot of sporting events, mostly including Cornell womens basketball

so now when dash sees a basketball game or any sport on TV he puts his hands up and yells and the claps.

Speech

We went home last weekend for Jackson's speech meet!

It was pretty much all day on Saturday at a High School in Lincoln, and the boys did great!

It helped that basically my whole family was there to entertain them.

Jackson competed in OID-- oral interp. of drama, its a 15min group speech and there are 5 in his group.

he also did poetry--and individual speech

chasen got to watch both of them the OID is funny so he like that!
after the second time he say Jackson's poetry he went up to him and asked

"why do you keep telling the same story"  :)

Jackson's OID (group speech) is The Goonies and Jackson is Sloth, so I had them do their best sloth face!

the kids were good so we got to stay and see awards

He got 1st in OID and 2nd in Poetry
