Food For Thought

this kid doesn't talk to much but when he gets on a roll it's non stop topics of conversation.
This all took place at dinner tonight.
I grabbed my computer and just started typing as he talked....

it's right back here, it's kinda crunchy
it's like a stegosaurus with it's plates on its back except ours is on the inside, its all the way pushed in!

Monkeys are my favorite animal. You know why?
Because they are like humans.
Do you know why they are like humans?
Because they can stand
Do you know the one part they are not like humans is because they are animals and they have tails and they say ohhhh ahh ahhh, and they have hair, a lot of hair we have small hairs but if we had dark brown hairs we would be animals.

do you know how I know all this stuff because Im gettin big .... too bad you can't stop me from gettin big because i remember every thing!

Mom, how does God make babies?
we'll he picks a mommy and a daddy when he thinks they are ready and plants a seed in the mommy and
The seed becomes a baby!
Ohh my god that sounds gross.
That sounds like a flower. babies aren't flowers

and then he just started to act goofy :)

I can't believe how big he is getting, defiantly turning into a school aged kid :(
but I still see the toddler side every once in a while.

speaking of school aged....we got his schedule for preschool...or Early Childhood Education as they call it.
He is in the morning class from 8:20 to 11:20 every day, but they have every other wednesday off which I think is kinda weird.
But the first day is August 21!!

Last Weeks Recap

It was a short week as the boys left on Wed. for Nebraska

but monday night Ean snapped this photo of how Chasen sleeps.

I asked him why he lays at the bottom of the bed and he said because Kev wont move.

Rotten dog!!! 

then on tuesday we met Brittany and her boys and went to Renee's ceramic cafe to make Ean fathers day gift 

Then we went to the splash pad and had a picnic lunch before heading to pathways to visit!

Reis and Dash. 

That is about as close as Dash got then he spent the rest of the time at the park.

Chasen loved it though! 

Then Wednesday was baseball before we drove to des moines

and now it's almost Wednesday again!! 

Time flies when you're having fun ;)

or when you have 2 little boys to keep yah busy!

7 Years!

we celebrated 7 years yesterday!

but actually celebrated this past weekend.

My mom met me in des moines on wed and took the boys.

I went to amys house for some girl time

thursday ean and i went to the wine bar in mt. vernon for some wine and music then to scorz to watch the NBA game.

we got home and were just sitting in silence and at one point ean said the silence was deafening. and it truly was my ears were ringing!

Friday night I went out for dinner with my friend Kasi and met up with Ean afterwards at Brads house where we ended up staying cause we were having some drinks!

It was so nice to be care free and not worry about the kids :)

saturday morning we stared our short vacation for our anniversary and actually did the same thing we did last year except this time we got a hotel right next to the dueling piano bar in des moines so we didnt have to get a cab!

but before we got to the hotel we went canoeing at a lake...I  can't remember the name but it was so much fun! So pretty, so peaceful. It even started to sprinkle as we were paddling back. we saw lots of fish and ducks and birds...and NO snakes :)

after that we checked in and found out that the hotel had happy hour with free food and 3 free drink tickets per person....and you know how we like a good deal! 

so we had our drinks then headed to the blue moon piano lounge for the night where we saw some very interesting people, heard great music and had some awesome cucumber vodka! 

last night we opened gifts,

7 years is copper so I got ean a copper rain wind chime, it fills with rain and spills down into all the other cups!

and he got me some copper that he bent into a heart! 

A homemade gift...well it was made in the truck in the parking lot of lowes :)

then we went out to eat at the mexican restaurant in mt vernon

and chasen fell asleep on his way there and didnt wake up when we took him in so we laid him down and he stayed there until we were done!

it was his gift to us!He refused a nap and we swam for quite a while too so i thihnks thats why he was so tired.

when I was painting in the dinning room I found our glasses from our wedding in the cupboard so we had some champagne to toast!

Chasen did not understand what we were celebrating and why he didnt get a gift

he also wanted to cheers with us so we got him some juice in a plastic wine glass.

it was a great anniversary! 

Happy Fathers Day

Ean and i were in des moines celebrating our anniversary and the boys were at my mom's 

so her, the boys, alyssa and lisa met us at the machine shed for an amazing brunch and bacon bloody marys-with bacon infused vodka!

Dashtyn was so excited to see us and by us I mean ean.

he hugged me but he wouldnt stop saying dadeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Ean got up to get some food and dash cried daaaadeeeeee the whole  time

he even had to sit with him the whole time and we learned that dash loves bacon...that's all he ate! 

we got to go on a tractor ride while we were there too

then we were on our way to north english

to celebrate with Ean's dad and family at Chris and Trista's house

All the boys played really well together, just a few squabels

They did enjoy picking strawberries and I think they ate most of them lol

They were like 2 old farmers just shootin' the shit on a sunday afternoon :)

dash liked them to, but wasn't very good a picking the ripe ones!

after supper we headed on our last leg of the journey home

when we got home we opened gifts

Chasne made Ean a picture frame at renee's ceramic cafe

and Chasen also picked out a deck of cards with a wolf on it 

"mom look it's wolf pack cards!"

we are also going to go get a tent with Ean this week. He doesn't want me to pick it out he thinks ill get one that's to expensive and fancy....who me?! :)

We were all in bed by 9...everyone was exhausted!

More Road Races

we did the mount vernon chocolate stroll the first saturday in june.

my 2nd ever 5k with the boys and it was HILLY 

of course I figured it would be since it is Mt. Vernon!

but chasen helped me out and got out and ran up a couple of the hills! 

afterwards we went to the chocolate stroll 

had some yummy chocolate and listened to the Eastern Iowa Brass band

The following satruday we did a 5k in williamsburg and they had a 1mile fun run and Garin wanted to do it! 

so I ran with Chasen and Garin, which was comical, but actually went better then I thought:) 

Chasen took off while Garin ran about 200 meters and then stopped so Im standing there yelling chasen stop, slow down! Garin come on keep going!!

after that we ran together most of the time.

until someone got tired and we would have to encourage them to keep going!

or when someone had to stop and look at at lawn mower!!

chasen and garin came in 9th and 10th I think the time as 12min 48secons

chasen being the youngest runner by 2 years.

we hope to do it again soon! 

It's so fun to share this hobby with the boys! 

garin was telling me he wanted to win medals like uncle Ean :)

Grandma Came to Visit

I think it was just last week when grama was here and now the kids are at her house for 5 days.

we picked her up at the bus stop and went to the coralville dam to show her the flooding

the boys and i had just been at the park down there 4 days earlier

Then we came home and had a fire and smores'

The next few days were spent playing at home

 and I painted the dining room!
