September

so i have some catching up to do and updates on the kids but first, updates on the things we have been doing

the last wed in sept we had the day off from school so I took chasen and his friend Jayden to the park. They are best buds from preschool last year but are not in the same class this year so we have to get together on days off!

Jaydens little brother and mom were supposed to come but Bryce was sick so I took them alone and they were pretty good!

 last friday in September was fan photo day at kinnick 

so I took the boys with my friend Brittany and her boys and got our pics taken!

Then Saturday was creepy  camping out at lake iowa

Dashtyn was a cowboy and Chasen a ninja

Ean and I just wore random stuff we had at home!

 

we trick or treated, ate, sat around the fire and then grammie took the boys back with her 

and..

my creey husband and i slept in a tent that he set up in the dark on a slight decline so we felt like we were sleeping upside down, it was freezing cold but kevin got in the queen sized blow up mattress and kept us warm by taking up half the bed..........I think we will stick to camping in our front yard lol

The Last Day

we woke up in the morning happy and warm my mom went to take a shower and it woke up dash who turned on the TV and what was on....a show about cannibalism....creepy!!! 

any way we went down to breakfast packed out bags and had planned to head home to nebraska via some hwy through Chadron, alliance, mullen (where i used to live) and all the way down to columbus.

we packed the car and my mom was up at the desk and heard a lady talking about how the road to Chadron had a bridge wash out and it was all mud and she was pulling people out!!

so we went back to the drawing board looking for other ways home but each option was going to had 2 to 3 horus to our 7 hour trip so we decided, screw it!! we are going with the plan we will just drive through and "give 'er hell"

it turned out she was embelishing her stroy quite a bit as we drove through with no problems

we stopped in alliance at the car henge

 

saw a rattle snake (yuck!! I almost died)

 and took a pee 

and headed back on the road

 we stopped in Mullen for lunch and to show the kids where mommy used to live 

and the school I went to for 2 years. 

then it was on the road again and I must say nebraska isn't all flat

we got home around 6 and Lisa and Alyssa got there around 6:30 they wanted visual confirmation that were actually ok, and to hear stories.

it was quite the trip 

my mom said Im welcome to plann a summer vacation to table rock but I can't come along because Im bad luck! :)

we left for Iowa the next morning after visiting with great great grandma

then it was a week full of soccer or swim lessons every night.
Im still tired!

Saturday: Things are Looking up, or are They?

we woke up warm and thankful and headed down to breakfast, our first warm meal in a while. It was buffet style with baccon, eggs, sausage gravy biscuits, french toast etc!!

we talked to some people, checked DOT website, no roads open maybe by noon so we looked out the window

went to the lobby to see mt rushmore

saw a huge dino out the window

played cards

and more window watching

we went outside to look at some dino bones in a case

did some rock climbing

and found out that the interstate was not opening a semi had jackknifed and they were turning cars around so we had about 45 min to decided if we were going to keep our room (because people were calling from all over for rooms) or go else where, well we needed to get home on sunday so this would be our only day to go sight seeing

we found some roads open up to hot springs so checked out and headed up there.

there was hardly any snow once we got about 8 miles down the road!!

we pulled into town about an hour later around 2pm drove through town to see the sights ate a late lunch then went to check out the water fall

we all took some drinks

and climbed a "mountain" 

on the drive there Chasen said all I want to do is climb a mountain

then we went to the mammoth museum 

and to Evans plunge a natural hot spring that they built this building over the water is new every hour!

we were the only ones there so Chasen got to go down the slides I dont think he would have got to go down had it been busy but no one said anything!

then we found a hotel checked in

ordered pizza and were off to bed!
