Mom to Mom......

I need some advice
Im trying to quit pumping but need some advice on relieving the pain any tips on how to dry up quicker with out the pain??!!

and yes I know I should continue breastfeeding but I'm barely producing 1/4th of what he is eating and its not worth all the time and effort.
I feel guilty about it so i don't need any advice on why i should continue I know why I should but its extremely time consuming for me with working and I'd rather spend the 20 min i spend pumping morning and night with chasen!

So on that note, any advice??!!

My nephew Garn was born 6 weeks premature and my niece Joely was born at 20 weeks.
here is Trista's personal story:
As many of you know, I have personal ties to this event. In December of 2006, I was blessed with the birth of my son, Garin. He was born 6 weeks premature weighing in at a little over 4 lbs. and 16 1/2 inches long. All of the doctors and nurses were so shocked at how strong he was and he thankfully didn't require any special treatments. He is now 16 months old and tips the scales at 22 lbs and is 31 inches tall. He is and will always be our little miracle baby. Last summer we were shocked and overjoyed to find out we were expecting again and due this May. On January 2, 2008 I went for my routine 20 week ultrasound. My mom and I watched in complete awe as we inspected every little inch of my sweet baby. This is when the other shoe dropped. At the end of my ultrasound, they examined my cervix and found that I had silently dialated to 3-4cm. I had emergency surgery in effort to prevent further dilation. On January 3, 2008, I delivered my sleeping angel, Joely Jane. Even in today's modern world, survival of an infant born at 20 weeks is not possible. My hope is that by joining with my friends and family in this walk, we will not only help raise awareness, but hopefully help raise funding so that maybe stories like mine won't have to be told. Thank you for your interest in making a difference.

Chew on this

Chasen has been chewing on everything!
Taking after his big brother Kevin (the dog) :)
Its really funny though, he will lay under his play gym and pull the toys off and right into his mouth.
I of course have several pictures to prove it!

right a fter this photo he grabbed the camera and brought it to his mouth lol

Im not sure if all the chewing is teething or just baby exploration, he sure does drool allot though.
Kevin is interested in the drool!
We still haven't caught the laugh on camera yet, but he does giggle at times and its the best!
Not much else is going on with us, which is nice!

Weekend Update

This weekend my mom and sister came to visit!
We had a nice relaxing weekend, we cooked 3 weeks worth of meals and froze them, went to the mall, watched endless amounts of movies, played with the cows and goats, ate at red lobster, and relaxed :)

Chasen is doing better, he still has a cough though, and boogers.
With Chasen getting sick I never go to post about mine and Ean's health.
We went to the dentist both of us for the first time in 5 to 7 years. Ean had 7 cavities and I had 10!!!! OMG! I know. Mine cover more surface area then his do too. I'm blaming it on heredity and being pregnant. Ean was told to immediately stop drinking pop, which is good because his diet is like 60% pop.
any way we have maxed our insurance so we may have to spread it out over a year or so.
I recommend that you go to the dentist NOW!!! If you havent been in a while.
Well its bath time and bed time.
Then we start the work week all over again, and I have to do activities this week and Im not very entertaining :/

Get Down With The Sickness

a little disturbed lyrics for ya

pull up a seat its a long post: took me all day (i was kinda busy)

Well Chasen has gotten sicker and last night We took him to urgent care.
He had a low (99) temp at daycare and they gave him Motrin at 11:00 I picked him up 5:15 and by 7 he was hot to the touch, bright red and his respiration's were 64 and his pulse was racing so fast I really couldn't count it, I called the on call doc and she suggested we go to urgent care before they closed and save ourselves a trip to the ER.
I was totally freaking out because we couldn't get him to slow his breathing down and he was flaring his nostrils and his fever was 100.7 under his arm.
So we went to urgent care in CR.
Trista called me on the way there and she talked me down like it was a hostage situation or something lol. The mom in my was FREAKING!!!!! and the nurse in me was a little more realistic, but either way I knew it wasn't good.
We go to urgent care and we were checked out by DR. ARROGANT I DONT HAVE CHILDREN AND IF I DO I HAVE NO COMPASSION.
He looked at Chasen for like a sec, wasn't nice or caring epically towards me...I had a few questions hw didnt allow me time to ask, didn't bother to listen to all his lung sounds, and told me I would know when it was really bad. And I said "oh, I thought this was really bad, I was really freaking out?" he said no it will get worse, then you ll know if he needs to go to the ER....oh okay Dr. OBVIOUS thanks for the "medical" advice.
He dx him with an ear infection and put him on steroid to help with the breathing, then I asked if I should use mortin or tylenol and hes like " oh you can't use motrin hes to young." oh really, DR. I NEED TO GET UP TO DATE ON MY FACTS. It was found in 2001 ( or 2003) that motrin is safe in children 2mo and older, yes it can, i repeat CAN have worse side affects then tylenol IF and when you administer the medicine incorrectly to your child (as many people do b/c they just dont know better, which is why I have posted two links to correct dosing on the right hand side of my blog)

Okay now that you know I wasnt happy with the DR. let me move onto the walgreens pharmacy.
Short wait.....that was good,
but all they did was hand me a bag of meds and said thank you.
She didnt ask if I had any questions, she actually walked away.
So thank god Im a nurse and somewhat knowledgeable (more so then the Dr. we saw) of the antibiotic (zythromax) and steroid (prednisone) they put him on and thank god I paid attention in my med dosing class and can convert tsp to ml.

So on that note I would like to say that my dr. at mercy care in mt. vernon is AMAZING and is super compassionate and sensitive to Chasen and I she always asks if I have any questions and explains things to me and assures me that Im doing the right thing, you can never reassure a new mom to much.
and Sheplys pharmacy is AMAZING as well, they always educate you on the medication even when I told them I was familiar with his nebulizer they still got it out put it together for me and showed me. I guess that's what you get in a small town :)

SO back to Chasen.
We got home he fussed from about 9:30 to 11 at which point we both fell asleep in bed (I was sitting up with a ton of pillows propping me up.) I slept with him like that till about 2am then i was just so tired I had to lay him in his crib so I got a bottle checked his temp 99.7 so gave him some tylenol layed him in bed at 2:30 and sat on the foot stool by his bed till 3:30. I had him in just a onesie with cool wash cloths under his armpits and wanted to stay by him till the fever broke so i could cover him when it did.
He layed there for and hour asleep but he was so uncomfortable that his left leg kept kicking in protest to the pain, I felt so bad so so bad for him.
I finally got to sleep around 4 then he was up at 6:30 congested, fussy and hungry but was having trouble eating cause he couldnt breat out of his nose.
he had so much mucus the nose frida couldn't get it all.
I had made an apt. with my dr. yesterday to take him this AM and even though I went to DR. DOOLITTLE last nigh I kept my apt with our dr. and she confirmed the same results said his ear inf. wasnt so bad and to keep and eye on the breathing, she answered ALLLLLL of my questions and assured me I did the right thing.

He has done pretty good today, Im keeping up with the tylenol q6h and nebulizer q3-4hours. He has slpet alot played a little and ate some.
Now Im just waiting for the diarrhea and trying to prevent diaper rash and keeping an eye out for thrush...oh boy .... this part of motherhood is nooo fun.

I want to thank my mom for all the times she took care of me when I was sick.
I was thankful then but had no idea what she was going through, all the worry, taking off work when you dont have time, feeling guilty, paying money you dont have for numerous dr. visits and medicine, staying up all night, getting puked on, peed on, getting sick yourself, and the worrying,... I never knew you could worry so much about one little person so thanks mom!!
while at walgreens I have flash backs of standing in line for a perscription with my mom. i was about 7 and I was about to be sick and my mom told me to throw up in my coat....and I did. lol
ill leave you wth a photo:
look ma' i can hold my own nebulizer!

Another day with the Caskeys

So Valentines day started off as any other sat. morning....a photo shoot with Chasen :)in his goat ears hat lol

Then he took a nap then he woke up and screamed and coughed for 30min so i took him to the Dr. he didn't have RSV but an upper rep. infection so he is on a nebulizer, which seems to be doing nothing...so who knows.
we left for the Dr in a big hurry and I forgot to take the cookies off our bed and to the kitchen so I came home from the Dr. to this

Happy Valentines day KEVIN!!! ---- BAD DOG!

Then Ean and I went to a Hawkeye basketball game with Brad and Abby, they threw the game away in the last 5min. Very disappointing. But we had fun! I had never been to a bball game and the last time ean went he was in boy scouts lol.
Then we went out for sushi with brad and Abby.
Ean and I had never had sushi before so we were kinda nervous but it was really really good! So I think I will be eating more of it :)
all and all it was a good valentines day!

This morning I woke up with a horrible sore throat :/ hopefully it doesn't develop into anything to serious.

Also, I think we have bats in our walls, we keep hearing squeaking and we can't find them any where, its really weird and kinda creepy but I guess that's what you get in a old farm house.
Well Im off to do some major cleaning.......{sigh} :/
anyone wanna be my maid..........for free????----didnt think so. :)
